Ysgol Tir Morfa Hydrotherapy Pool

Brynbuild

The new Hydrotherapy Pool Building at Ysgol Tir Morfa represents a major investment in specialist facilities for pupils with additional learning needs. Delivered by Brynbuild for Denbighshire County Council, the  project provides a warm, accessible, and purpose‑built therapeutic environment designed to support physical development, mobility, and wellbeing. The building features high‑performance insulation, solar panels, and a modern GRP roof, helping to reduce energy use while maintaining a calm and comfortable internal setting.

At the heart of the facility is a 19‑ft hydrotherapy pool installed by specialist contractors, complete with a ceiling‑mounted hoist system that allows pupils to move safely and seamlessly from the changing area into the water. Behind the scenes, extensive drainage upgrades and complex mechanical and electrical systems ensure the pool operates efficiently year‑round, supported by underfloor heating for consistent comfort.

The project also delivered strong social value outcomes for the region. Local labour and Welsh‑based suppliers were prioritised, sustainable materials were used throughout, and 99% of waste was diverted from landfill. Welsh language use was actively encouraged on site, and the team engaged regularly with the school and wider community to minimise disruption and maintain strong local connections. The result is a high‑quality, inclusive facility that will benefit pupils and the community for many years.
